The New York Yankees started out as the Baltimore Orioles from 1901-1902 and then moved to New York and became the Highlanders from 1903-1912. During their brief time as the Highlanders is when the famous interlocking NY logo was created. This is one of the first times we see the logo on the front of the cap in the classic navy blue color the Yankees are famous for today.
